  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 cups powdered sugar for frosting
  • 1 cup unsalted butter for frosting, softened
  • 2-3 tbsp milk for frosting
  • Food coloring optional
  • Sprinkles for decoration

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Line a cupcake pan with paper liners.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Add in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then add vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients, alternating with milk.
  7. Scoop the batter into the prepared cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
  8. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cupcakes to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  10. While cooling, prepare the buttercream frosting by beating the softened butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar.
  11. Add milk as needed to reach your desired frosting consistency, then beat until fluffy.
  12. If desired, add food coloring to the frosting to achieve festive colors.
  13. Frost the cooled cupcakes and decorate with sprinkles as desired.
