Delightful Italian Christmas Cookies for Everyone

Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped nuts almonds or walnuts
  • 1 cup dried fruit such as cranberries or figs
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chopped nuts and dried fruit gently using a spatula.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto lined baking sheets, spacing them apart.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until lightly golden around the edges.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  10. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar for a festive touch before serving.
