Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter 226g
  • 2 cups granulated sugar 400g
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour 120g
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 100g
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips 170g

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch (23x33 cm) baking pan.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in granulated sugar until fully combined.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  6. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the butter-sugar-egg mixture until just combined.
  7. Gently fold in the semisweet chocolate chips.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
  10. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
