Ingredients
Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9-inch baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, melt the butter in the microwave or over a double boiler until just melted (don’t let it bubble).
- Add sugar to the melted butter and whisk vigorously until combined and glossy.
- One by one, add the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until the mixture is smooth and somewhat fluffy.
- Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, and salt, and gently fold until just combined — don’t overmix!
- If desired, stir in the chocolate chips for an extra molten surprise when you bite into the brownies.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing it out evenly with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs, not wet batter.
- Let the brownies cool in the pan before slicing into squares and serving.
Notes
Store brownies in an airtight container to keep them fresh for up to 5 days. They can be warmed in the microwave for a few seconds for that freshly-baked taste.
